For this assignment, you will watch the film Crash and choose one of the vignettes to analyze. You will describe the vignette and the ethical concerns it raises in the context of social justice. If you were a social worker asked to intervene in this situation, what forms of ethical decision making would you need to apply? How does culture play a role in your choice? What would a socially just intervention look like? What NASW standards for cultural competence in social work practice apply to this situation?

Assignment Instructions

Watch the film and select one of the vignettes to analyze. From the standpoint of a social worker asked to intervene in the situation, prepare a 2–3-page paper in current APA format. Complete the following:

• Describe the vignette briefly.
• Analyze the culturally relevant elements and challenges in the situations. Include any hidden issues you believe may be present as well as those that are readily apparent.
• Analyze the ethical issues the situation raises in the context of social justice.
• Analyze how the NASW code of ethics and the NASW standards for cultural competence in social work practice apply to the situation.
• Describe the role of culture in selecting ethical decision-making theories and strategies for application.
• Evaluate the ethical decision-making theories you would apply to the situation.
• Apply an ethical solving model to the vignette.
