Before submitting your first essay, make sure you have reviewed the following: “Anatomy of an Essay,” Introduction to College Writing,” “MLA Formatting,” “Essay #1 Guidelines,” and my feedback on your rough draft (if you completed one).
Your essay must be MLA-formatted, contain a word count in the 5th line of the heading (750-1,000 words is the range for this paper), and be submitted in a .doc, .docx, or .pdf file format. You should also underline any templates used from They Say/I Say (you should aim for at least 3-5). You should use bold or highlighting for your thesis statement.
Below is a rubric which outlines how you will be graded for this assignment. It usually takes me around 1-2 weeks to grade essays, and I will send an e-mail out when they are finished. You are permitted to revise the first two essays for a higher grade.
