2. The main part of this assignment should be a critical discussion of concepts of ability. This should include, to varying degrees, exploration of the following questions: a. How is ability understood from a realist perspective? What about from a constructivist point of view?

b. Where are they similar, and how do they differ?

c. What would you say are the strengths and weaknesses of each position?

d. Why would you say this matters? In particular, what are the implications of either position for learning within schools?

e. Over the course of your life, how have people treated you, and how have you regarded yourself, in connection with

concepts of ‘ability’? How do you see yourself now?
