Youth and Delinquency

Youth and Delinquency

Go to the Blueprints for Healthy Youth Development website (http://www.blueprintsprograms.com/). This is a project of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence located at the University Colorado at Boulder. The project provides a resource on drug and violence prevention programs that meet standards as exemplary “blueprints” for further program development. For this assignment, first select the tab at the top of the page labeled “Blueprints Standards.” Briefly summarize the criteria used by the center in evaluating whether a program is effective. What is the difference in requirements for a program to be deemed a “model” or “promising” program (according to the Blueprints criteria)? Why do you think there are relatively few that meet these standards? Second, select either a “Model Program” or a “Promising Program” from the list that is provided when you click on the “Blueprints Programs” tab at the top of the website. Each member of your group must pick a different program. In your own words, prepare a summary of the program that describes the logic of the theory behind the program. It may help for you to create a flow chart to show the logic of the program. Who does the program target? What is the program objective(s)? Do not copy and paste from the website. Provide a thoughtful review including strengths and shortcomings.
