You must, as part of your discussion, define the difference between subject matter and style using the portrait of King Sargon II above.
Your exam essays will ask you to discuss style, but style in art history is very different than style in other disciplines like fashion. So what is it exactly? Once you have read this short essay, start a discussion with your fellow students on “style:” The apply what you have learned and discussed to the above portrait.
