Using examples from the Abu Lughod chapter and the Kerner Report attached below, describe the persisting threads that tie together urban uprisings in twentieth century America. What did the Kerner Commission get right, and what did it get wrong, about the conditions that have led to urban rioting and the ways in which the American people and their elected officials should respond?
