The Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath’s Tale

The Canterbury Tales: The Wife of Bath’s Tale

I need someone to answer these discussion post for me

IMPORTANT NOTE: There are two different stories referred to here. The Wife’s personal story is part of the prologue, and is what the first question refers to. The Wife’s TALE is the story she tells to the party. Ask if it’s not clear!!

Question 1 -The Wife of Bath is one of literature’s most interesting characters. Her life is both typical and atypical of women of her time. Discuss the Wife’s life and personality according to the text. Include some discussion of her husbands. According to the discussion in the prologue, what reason is given requiring a wife to marry only once? What is the Wife’s counter argument?

Question 2 – Link this discussion to the Wife’s tale. What is the “moral” of that story? How does it (or doesn’t it) relate to her own story? Which (if any) of the individual frame tales you’ve read does this support?
