            Communication needs to be clear, concise and direct, and these are skills that are imperative to technical communication. These principals are used in all professional settings, which is one of the reasons why technical communication skills are essential to professional development. In any professional setting, we must be clear with our words and direct with our instructions.

 

 

 

In professional settings, if our words are not clear, reports could be misinterpreted, data could be poorly translated, and information could be lost. One of the reasons that technical writing has become so prevalent in professional settings is because it is designed to be direct and clear. Creative writing has its place, but in professional settings, ‘word economy’ is vital.
