In American society there is a social importance on being “real” , i.e. authentic. How important it this in practice? If we expand the arguments in this book, how often do we act like the students discussed in the article rather than always being “real”. Put another way, does social life require us to basically be actors for most our lives? Also, connect this topic with our Chapter 4 material as it relates to the prompt.
