Students this is your second research assignment. There are multiple components to this assignment. It is optional whether you work as a group or not but it needs to be submitted as your work. You will submit assignment through EMAIL.

*Part 1-Who, What, When Where Aspects, similar to first assignment, time and setting specific to this assignment, as specific as possible.

*Part 2-Min. Half Page, Max. One Page, Typed Outline of Work(s) that make up your sources. Outline headings can be 14 pt. font, Subheadings and details no more than 12 pt. font, descending outline explaining the larger aspects of the work. It is to be single-spaced, Only for the outline. This will show that you have read your source and competent enough to explain what is located in it. More details on how to do an outline will be given in class.

Part 3-Thesis/Main Idea, My Interpretation Section- 1.5 Page Minimum (Max 3)-Explaining what the author is getting at, how does he or she address their main idea, and how their thesis helps give better clarity for you on the subject matter. Your interpretation then takes that clarification a step further in giving your thoughts, shaped around the evidence from the text. Those with multiple sources have more than one author but your interpretation can fit as a continuation of the sources. Keep in mind interpretations are yours but it must include good, solid evidence from your source(s).

NOTE: The Rubric below represents the standards of scoring. This means that it shows the most points scored given the criteria, but scores may vary given certain details of the assignment.

Authors Thesis and Main Idea is clearly stated in the text early, then expands through details and evidence from the text. Details are evident, showing the student read the article(s) and can discern with clarity the author’s argument and details. Next, Student’s interpretation reflects student’s clarity of the subject matter in making their argument. The student presents numerous examples and evidence to substantiate the claim.

Author’s Thesis/Main Idea is clearly given with some evidence, but could see more going in. Student’s Interpretation is good but evidence to support can go farther.

Good

All components are there, Main/Idea Thesis is Given, Students’ Interpretation given but little evidence used to support, meeting just minimum requirements with no sign of clear, sophisticated knowledge from the article.

Fair

More than One Component is Missing, Little to no evidence is given, reflects some competence of material, but needs numerous improvements and reflects lack of research skills on a proficient level.

Poor

Does not meet basic requirements shows interpretations but does not go very far with it. Needs alot more work done to it, reflects little effort on student’s part.
