Once you have read and viewed those materials, answer the following questions:

  1. Is there anything about Eliot’s experiment that you find disturbing? If so, explain what you find disturbing and why. If not, then explain why not.
  2. How do you think adults might react in a similar experiment? Why?
  3. Looking back to the ethical guidelines put forth earlier in the text, are there any ethical concerns with what Elliot did in her classroom? Explain your answer.
  4. What kinds of changes might have occurred in the personalities and performances of the children if the experiment had continued for more than two days with each group?
  5. Discuss at least two things that you learned &/or that surprised you about the material presented in Chapter 12 of your textbook and/or in the materials regarding the Brown Eyes/Blue Eyes experiment.
