Writing Assignment

The Juvenile Justice Practice Series of NCJRS provides a description of six model youth aftercare programs that prepare juveniles for reentry into the community. Although these programs vary in origin, design, and approach, all share certain formal characteristics. The six programs are described here:

In a 2-page APA formatted paper students will identify similarities and differences among the programs and state which program sounds the most promising to them? Students should also include recommended changes to the program they select to improve it further.

Students will also include at least one “real life” case that resulted from one of these programs.

A minimum of two references, one being from an outside, non-GU source, are required.

Please be very sensitive to the issues of plagiarism! All of the written work submitted must clearly be your own. Keep in mind transcription of material (copying), followed by parenthetical identification of the source with little or no original thought added does not constitute an adequate essay. You are expected to provide some evidence that at least a significant portion of the each essay is your own reaction to, thought about or evaluation of the subject of the essay, composed in your own words. Agreement, disagreement, examples, etc. are appropriate – as long as evidence of some thoughtful and pertinent independent thought, reaction, or response to the term or question is included.

 

 

 

Human Activity and Climate Change

In 3-4 pages, using APA-style formatting, discuss and give your position on the following statement: “Human activity, especially the burning of fossil fuels, is a major contributor to climate change”. Do you agree or disagree? Support your views with credible data. This is an area where junk science abounds. Be prepared to give and defend your sources as scientifically trustworthy.
