Introduction • Hook the reader with a creative opener • Clearly and briefly state the major themes of your project Field of Study (ex: Engineering, Public Health, Education, etc.) • Describe your field of study in detail • How does it contribute to society? Critical Issue • Identify a critical issue (current or historical) in your field of study that has been influenced by an insect • Describe the issue in detail, including any controversy or opposing views • Indicate how your featured insect is part of the problem or part of the solution Featured Insect • Specify your insect to the family, genus, or species level of taxonomy • Describe the biology of your featured insect: o Scientific name and taxonomy o Physical description o Range, habitat and diet o Life cycle o Interesting behaviors (ex: reproduction, feeding, social) • Include info that is relevant to your critical issue Insect-Human Connection • Discuss how your featured insect affects your critical issue o Analyze the relationship between entomology, technology and society • Discuss other fields or aspects of society that are affected by this critical issue o Analyze the role of entomology and technology in shaping diverse fields • Discuss how this issue demonstrates the positive and/or negative relationship between humans and insects o Articulate a critical perspective on the insect-human connection References • Minimum of 5 quality references (course lectures do not count) • Include a list of all references used • Include URLs for images used • Include in-text citations for any information that is not your own original thought • Format using CSE style (use the link below for guidance)
