Foreign Policy – 500 words
Identify two examples from U.S. history since 1920 when the United States acted on the world stage in a way that you think was positive. In other words, select two foreign policy initiatives (such as treaties, international agreements or organizations, policies, wars, covert operations, trade agreements, development projects, etc.) that the U.S. government did that you agree with. Write a paragraph for each that describes the foreign policy initiative, what the U.S. did and why you think it was a good idea. Then identify two foreign policy initiatives that the U.S. pursued that you disagree with. Write a paragraph for each that describes the foreign policy initiative, what the U.S. did and why you think it was a bad idea. Based on the foreign policy initiatives you picked, write a paragraph in which you identify what principles and ambitions should and should not motivate U.S. foreign policy. (Each of your foreign policy initiatives must be from different decades.)
