You work for a Singaporean online entertainment platform which shows local films. You
have been tasked with conducting a survey on local film, to get a better idea of Singapore
viewers and the local film landscape. Carefully follow all the instructions below.
Instructions and Grading Allocation
Get ten people to complete the questionnaire on Singapore film (see page 7).
Next, appraise three measures that you believe would encourage local
viewership of Singapore film. The measures you discuss need not be related
to the factors you examined earlier, but they must be a response to what you
have learned from your questionnaire.
o For example, if many of your respondents said they would watch
Singapore films that have good stories, you could discuss measures to
encourage a supply of good stories. What would these measures be?
Who should take these measures? What are the difficulties in
implementing the measures? If the measure has already been adopted,
what has its impact been? What more could be done? These are just
some examples of what you could do when you appraise the measures.
o As part of your research, your class will get to meet someone who is
involved in the Singapore film industry. You must use and engage
with relevant information from this meeting. Be sure to do other
research as well, so that you can construct a considered reading of the
local film landscape.
