Endangered Species Essay Write a 4 – 5 page double spaced essay (must be 4 full pages starting at very top of page 1 and continuing to almost bottom of page 4) on the ethical issues of the endangered species. Remember do not write a research paper on the topic. The paper should not be a summary of the topic. The bulk of the paper must discuss the ethical issues surrounding the topic and must discuss ethical theory. Use 3 different ethical theories in the paper. • Use size 12 font, Times New Roman or Arial is best. • 1” margins all around. • You must have at least 3 sources in addition to the text book. (no Wikipedia, blogs, or personal websites) • You must have an APA Reference Page • Quotations should be short and must have proper APA in text citations – no more than One 5 – 7 line block quote. Do not quote theory definitions. • APA in text citations for all quotes, paraphrases, facts, statistics, and all information from the sources. All info from a source must be cited not just direct quotes. • Be sure you spell and grammar check your paper. • Proof Read your paper and make sure your writing makes sense. I will grade the paper on: • Adherence to the guidelines of the paper. • How well the topic and the ethical issues related to the topic is discussed. • The thesis statement and introduction. • How well the thesis is supported using research and ethical theory. You must use three different ethical theories. (a form of Consequentialism, a form of Nonconsequentialism, and Virtue Ethics) • If you use Act Nonconsequentialist theory you must use an additional nonconsequentialist theory for support (Kant’s Imperatives, Prima Facie Duties) • Correct use of ethical terminology. • Define all terms used in your own words. NO Quoted Theory definitions • Use of additional theories, sub-theories, and terms specifically related to Environmental ethics. • Citations • Spelling and grammar • Remember to back up your personal position with facts and ethical theory. Avoid using “I”. It is your paper I know this is your opinion. • The conclusion must restate the thesis in different words, highlight the main points of the paper, and have a few closing thoughts.
