Descriptive essay

Make sure not to write a story about an experience, like going to Disneyland with your family and events that happened, but rather “paint a mental picture” of the place with the senses so someone who has never been there can fully imagine it. Your topic can be as simple as a basketball as an object: what does it feel like? What does it smell like? What does it look like? For a person, rather than describing their life experiences or personality, make sure to stay focused on sensory details: What clothes do they wear? What does their cologne smell like? How does their voice sound?

In this essay ,you will be speaking in third person to write a vivid description of a person, place, or object using at least three of the five senses: sights, sounds, smells, tastes, or textures. The great writers of the Romantic period of American Literature packed their writing with vivid details that helped their readers feel and experience the place or object, which is what you will do as well. You will write a 2-3 page essay with 5 paragraphs: 1 introduction, 3 body paragraphs (1 sense per paragraph), and a conclusion.
