Students will develop a self-help group or a peer-delivered service for clients with a specific psychiatric disorder such as PTSD, depression, etc. This group can also be issue specific. For example, military veterans with PTSD. (Do not use this example). Be creative and use research to support the need for the group and why the theoretical orientation is effective for this group.
The group information should include:
- Name of group or service
- Psychiatric Disorder and/ issue presented
- Why the group or service is needed for these individuals?
- Goals of the group
- Group type (open or closed)
- What theoretical orientation would be your foundation? (Existential, Psychoanalytic, Cognitive-Behavioral, etc.)
- Marketing strategy
- Partnerships
- Benefits or disadvantages of using a self-help group or peer-delivered services
