After you have read Chapter 5 and the primary source for this chapter, answer the following questions about the Primary Source and the Textbook Reading:
How and why did colonial Americans develop a “habit of self-government” and how did British policy after 1763 affect the “habit of self-government”? What role did “ordinary citizens” play in the coming of the Revolution? Was the American Revolution a radical revolution? Did the Revolution produce basic changes in society, especially for blacks, women, Indians, and the underclass?
