2 page essay

The assignments require the student to choose and print out a primary document or artifact that somehow relates to a class topic. When choosing a primary document, students are encouraged to be creative and imaginative in order to pick something that interests them. You must then write a two page paper (double spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, MLA format) keeping in mind the following questions: Why did you choose this document or artifact? What is it? When was it created? What were the circumstances surrounding its creation? What was going on in the United States at the time of its creation? How does it relate to what we’ve discussed in class? Why is it important? What can we learn from it today? Remember to include a printout (at least the first page) of the document.
